Web Press Validation Technician

  • Work alongside factory production team of PWI Web Press units and the validation of production units
  • The web press validation technician will perform a series of test and verifications of all systems, and subsystems evaluating the functionality against documented specifications
  • Currently there are 58 "Functionality” tasks and 22 "Performance” tasks that will need to be performed and verified
  • This position will require effective communication and partnering with customers, install managers, install techs, CPM's, ASM's. Responsibilities will also include performing manufacturing, data collection, and R&D testing as required
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience and 6+ years of experience. May include highly experienced individuals performing equivalent work who are non-degreed or degreed in an unrelated field or equivalent vocational or military training. Advanced knowledge of the field of electro mechanical technology.
  • Experience working in manufacturing. Diagnosing, troubleshooting and documenting electro-mechanical, communication, and networking problems. Performing tests and evaluating results.
  • Networking, Linux and Windows Operating Systems, and Communications
  • Knowledge of general mechanics – loads, force, acceleration
  • Basic Signals and Filters – FFT, Low Pass Filters
  • Instrumentation and Data Acquisition – Load Cells, Thermocouples, Calibration, Noise and Ground Loops
  • Controls and Closed Loop Systems – PID and Hysteresis
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat and MS Office
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work in an autonomous environment at times
  • Able to communicate with customers and balance their requests versus finishing the validation. There is a certain amount of being an "Official Client Representative” required
  • Specific PWI Press operation skills
  • Good technical knowledge of press function, expected behavior and the critical parameters
  • Able to run the press from a cold start without support
  • Able to load and unload paper
  • Knowledge of all the buttons and label placement
  • Knowledge of pens and able to replace
  • Good knowledge of press function, expected behavior, critical parameters
  • Good working knowledge of print bar SVS commands thru TeraTerm
  • Knows the press networks, tunneling, remoting in, rolling code
  • Excellent documentation habits, screen captures and time stamp, describes problems well
  • Good knowledge of networking, compute systems, editing xml files, transferring file via ftp
  • Know how to push code onto CF cards for IC systems
  • Knowledgeable in PEC web pages and PQ evaluation
  • Knowledgeable in Basic Linux commands and DFE basics
  • Capable of plugging into SUV boards
  • Calibrating loads cells and other sensors
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and find breakers
  • Familiar with VNC and Siemens screens
  • Good technical knowledge of IDS/RITS
  • Able to Rip color text files
