System Management Specialist
Eclaro is looking for a System Management Specialist for an opportunity for our client in YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, NY.

Project Overview:
The Client Research is looking for an experienced HPC systems administrator to assist the Environmental and Atmospheric sciences teams in automating, implementing, monitoring, administering and developing a high performance computing infrastructure which includes clusters and some distributed servers hosting database backed web applications. The candidate will work from high level specification/instruction and be responsible for low level design and implementation. This will involve autonomy and ability to do agile development and communicate status/demonstrate meaningful progress. This position will also provide support for distributed servers, graphics workstations, and other Linux based servers that comprise the remainder of the systems organization for this research department.
Responsibilities:
  • Automating, implementing, monitoring and administering a high performance computing infrastructure which includes clusters and distributed servers hosting a variety of applications including database backed web applications.
  • Work in conjunction with a other support staff including distributed systems and IT support administrators.
  • Provide support for distributed servers, graphics workstations, and other Linux based servers that comprise the remainder of the systems organization for this research department.
  • Interact with researchers extensively through technical exchange meetings (TEMs), formal reviews at key program milestones, system demonstrations and briefings.
Skills:
  • At least 2 years of experience working with x86 HPC clusters (MPI based)
  • At least 2 years of experience working with x86 servers (bare metal)
  • At least 1 year of experience installing, configuring, and maintaining server class storage systems
  • At least 1 year of experience with networking (Infiniband, Ethernet)
  • At least 2 years of shell scripting experience
  • Linux software OS and library/application level installation and system maintenance (RedHat, CentOS, or Ubuntu)
  • Proficiency with Debian and RPM software packaging and installation
  • Familiarity with one or more software configuration/change management tools (e.g. puppet)
  • Practical familiarity with one or more data archival and backup solutions
  • Familiarity with user account management for Linux Systems
