Position Overview:

  • The Senior UX Designer is not just a thinker, but also a maker.

  • Help create documentation and deliverables for our products.

  • Lead the development of presentation materials (Keynote, PowerPoint, Google Slides) and can distill complex information into focused and impactful presentations.

  • Will be part of a product team designing and updating applications/web properties that serve customers.

  • Learn the design system and system architecture and become an expert and evangelist for both.

  • Work closely with the global standards team, the design research and analytics groups and the program-specific product teams.


 
Responsibilities:

  • Analyze business and technical requirements

  • Identify target users and help build hypothesis around user needs for projects

  • Partner with design researchers to identify the right strategy for what you want to solve for

  • Consistently conduct research and lead synthesis sessions with your team, in an agile and lean way

  • Plan together with your team how implementations that came out of research should be prioritized

  • Create user journeys, purchase/regular flows to capture current and future states of user pathways

  • Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, comps, specifications and other design documents to communicate design ideas to project teams

  • Work within the design system and help grow it

  • Partner with the Accessibility team to ensure designs are compliant

  • Create and present concepts/deliverables to the working team and stakeholders

  • Own and lead research (generative and evaluative) for the team/products, coming up with the right strategies for each sprint or Discovery

  • In addition to research, collect other types of data to inform design decisions/solutions (e.g., surveys, analytics dashboards, accessibility reviews).

  • Handoffs to developers through tools like Figma, Zeplin and InVision

  • Collaborate with the team:

    • Coordinate with project management and design team to ensure timely delivery of design artifacts

    • Assist and lead collaboration sessions, working groups, and inter-team coordination

    • Own and manage timelines not just individually, but for the team as a whole

    • Be a significant contributor to the fostering of our design process and quality standards, based on objective, data-driven evidence

    • Forming and maintaining solid relationships with project team members and stakeholders

    • Foster a collaborative and learning environment by partnering with stakeholders and facilitating design decisions to optimize for the user experience while balancing interests within technology, marketing, business, and executive partners

    • Be the "voice of the customer, "representing user needs in product design decisions

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Someone with a 'Product Design' mindset, who owns the end-to-end design delivery: from strategy to comps

  • Self-managing, but also used to working within a team

  • Experienced working in Agile, iterative/lean design and delivery environments

  • Experienced growing and working within design systems

  • Experienced in information architecture and complex taxonomies

  • Experienced designing purchase and/or subscription flows; familiar with e-commerce challenges and approaches

  • A strong negotiator that is willing to collaborate and find a middle ground

  • Dedicated and passionate about our non-profit mission

  • A great storyteller, both with words and visualizations

  • Effective, but easy-going - someone that is fun to work with and really thrives in a collaborative environment

  • A team member that is not afraid to speak up about what they feel is important, but also is strategic in picking their battles

  • A person with a good sense of humor who isn't afraid to try and fail (or to try and succeed)

  • Should be skilled and comfortable with presenting to a range of leadership levels, from Program Owners to the Leadership Team, earning buy-in for the work in a manner that instills confidence in leadership at the client.

  • Nice to have: Experience designing subscription experiences.
