Position Overview:
  • Provide actuarial services to develop best-practice actuarial models and promote implementation Program-wide.
  • Maintain accountability for the development of the organization's rate structure, maintenance of adequate reserves, and development of new products.
  • Provide data/analytic expertise to support actuarial services including financial reporting, trend analysis, utilization studies, rate development and claims liability estimates.

  • Has acquired an understanding of actuarial concepts and insurance knowledge.
  • Coordinates, prepares, and performs actuarial analyses to assist in the development of complex actuarial formulations leading to the recommendation of pricing strategies and loss reserving.
  • Provides consultation and clarification on actuarial models and risk issues.
  • Identifies new methodologies and trends in actuarial functions and their application.
  • Maintains documentation of actuarial analyses, and may assist in preparing the actuarial portion of financial reports and tax returns, and responses to insurance regulations.
  • Provides technical assistance to Program staff in the planning, execution, and analysis of actuarial studies.
  • Participates in the projection and analysis of product profitability.
  • May provide technical guidance to less experienced professionals and technicians.
  • 3 years of experience with minimum four (4) exams.
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science.
  • Four (4) years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience in both actuarial and business operations preferred.
  • Almost complete all coursework for attainment of ASA.
  • Knowledge of health care industry dynamics and trends preferred.

Preferred Skills:
  • Requires knowledge of survey research techniques and/or statistical methods.
  • Excellent analytic, problem-solving, quantitative, and qualitative skills, including sampling methodologies and statistics.
  • Good understanding of and ability to think through causal relationships.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
