Position Overview:
  • Builds and maintains the data platform, which interfaces with data stores of asset-generating platforms and other financial services portfolio companies and provides internal client constituencies the ability to perform comprehensive analytics and reporting. 
  • Responsible for the day-to-day acquisition, cleansing, maintenance and distribution of data across and the transformation of that data into insights of portfolio companies that spur efficiencies, build business volume, facilitate governance and oversight, and contribute to Client's financial control and reporting. 
  • The role solves complex business questions by apply technologies and approaches to enterprise data, including master data management, data governance, data strategy, cost-optimization, innovation, and efficiency.
  • The role's primary focus is on data integration, sourcing, provisioning, quality and data lifecycle management, along with the exploitation of data assets to create business value.
  • Partner with multiple stakeholders to build an understanding of the data and analytics needs of investment professionals.
  • The role works collaboratively and closely with individuals from Client's Technology Data Management & Analytics team (which is responsible for maintaining the data platform) with regard to the data platform design and implementation regarding MDM, Information organization, data modeling, software design, software development and integration technology choices.
  • Involves significant exposure to the firm's senior investment professionals and technology and financial executives of portfolio companies.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the implementation of the data platform (together with Global Technology) through the specification of business uses (developed in consultation with investment professionals), the capturing of relevant data stores from portfolio companies, the promotion of the possibilities of the data platform to internal constituencies, and the management of the end-to-end process to transform data into meaningful analytics
  • Function as part of a small, entrepreneurial team tasked with sourcing data, managing data, and executing data analytics across a range of financial services portfolio companies that, ultimately, has a direct impact on the portfolio company performance and risk/return profiles
  • Ensure integrity of data delivery mechanisms to ensure data has been delivered and consumed properly by the data platform
  • Working collaboratively with technical and data resources at portfolio companies to create an operating model that provides visibility into the available data, the possible application of that data to the governance, oversight, and reporting functions of and facilities the efficient delivery of data into the data platform
  • Build business performance dashboards and other business reporting that provides timely information and insights, enabling that enable business to improve decisions optimize processes and plans and work proactively
  • Participate in the technology due diligence process of acquisition targets; contributing content and insights to the broader deal team based on assessments of the data infrastructure and maturity through primary analysis and collaboration with third-party consultants
  • Manage and mentor Data Services Associates
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Leadership of data management and data analytics functions, including the building and management of complex ETL infrastructure solutions and experience with distributed, highly-scalable, multi-node environments
  • Deploying data in AWS and Azure environments along with an understanding of data warehousing and big data Hadoop ecosystems
  • Experience with RDBMS technologies and SQL languages, Oracle and SQL server a plus
  • Demonstrated history working successfully with different modelling techniques, including predictive modelling
  • Ability to interpret and anticipate the data and analytic needs of portfolio management, risk management, finance, and operations
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills along with a demonstrated history developing analytical frameworks and reporting
  • Personal motivation with demonstrated success working within a team; strong leadership and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship and communication skills
  • Experience as a respected influencer and ability to play an active role in mentoring and developing talent
  • Bachelor's degree with an exceptional record of academic achievement
