Position Overview:
  • An Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) Developer with solid experience and knowledge in implementing enterprise level RPD's, reports (BI Publisher, Answers/Dashboard), and analytics.
  • The Enterprise Reporting and Analytics Team is composed of 5 report developers and a team leader.
  • The team is migrating Microsoft SSRS reports and SAP Business Objects (v. 4)/Crystal Reports to OBIEE (with Exalytics) BI Publisher and Answers/Dashboards.
  • Over 1000+ SAP reports are currently supported and will be assessed for retirement/replacement using OBIEE.
  • Approximately 30 SSRS reports also will be converted.
  • Development will be focused on providing ad hoc analysis to specific business authors and rolling out reports to business consumers.
  • Current reports utilize the enterprise data warehouse (Oracle Exadata) and connections to SQL Server 2008/2012 and Oracle 11g/12c databases.
  • The team develops enterprise reports within IT applications (internal/external) and on the web.
  • Reports serve all facets of the transportation enterprise from financials, programs/projects, human resources, to federally required reporting.
  • The team coordinates with client, server, network, and database/data warehouse personnel to integrate supporting IT architecture.
  • Moving forward, ad hoc analytics/dashboards, geospatial (Esri) integration, and Microsoft Office add-in integration will also be implemented.


  • Builds OBIEE reports and dashboards using BI Publisher, Answers and Dashboards
  • Models, configures and optimizes the RPD/Universes from Data Warehouse (OLAP) and databases (OLTP)
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data cubes, loading data, dimensions, calculating data and aggregation techniques
  • Design, develop, and document OBIEE repository/metadata
  • Configures Ad Hoc query and Reporting environments
  • Building geospatial reports/dashboards
  • Developing MS Office based content using Oracle Office tools
  • Assists in OBIEE administration, system maintenance, and upgrades
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with minimal user disruption
  • Working in a team environment to develop reports and/or dashboards while working as a team member on an assigned project
  • Works with business users to gather reporting/analytics requirements
  • Perform unit, system and integration testing
  • Manage capacity and performance requirements
  • Close engagement with Enterprise Architects, Data Warehousing, Database, and Server Administration teams in collaborative design
  • Provide design and development mentorship/cross-training with fellow team members
  • Deliver solid, scalable, robust BI reporting/analytic solutions
  • Assists in the administration and implementation of BI system/system security
  • Prepare estimates of time for design and development

Required Skills:
  • 8+ years of IT development experience
  • 5+ years of experience in writing PL/SQL, SQL*Plus, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience as an Oracle BI development using OBIEE with deep expertise in RDP design/development
  • 4 year Bachelor's degree with preferred concentration in IT, data science, or business
  • 2+ years of experience with star-schema, snowflake, FACT, and dimensional data modeling
  • 2+ years of experience with OBIEE Answers, Dashboards, and BI Publisher
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, building, implementing, and deploying data universes/data models against Oracle and SQL Server databases
  • Experience with Business Objects, Crystal Reports, and Reporting Services
  • Experience with creating dashboards and performance metric based reporting
  • Strong knowledge of RDBMS MS SQL Server 2008/2012, Oracle 11g/12c
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, building, implementing, and deploying enterprise reports, analytics, and dashboards
  • Experience with deploying/upgrading BI systems
  • Ability to extrapolate business requirements, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deliver high quality work products
  • Experience in producing test cases/scenarios
  • Experience in data analysis, data profiling and validation
  • Complete working knowledge of OBIEE user, object and data security and caching capabilities.
  • Able to use complex expressions to calculate, group, filter, parameterize, optimize and format contents of reports/analytics
  • Must be skilled and experienced with graphical elements and filtered/layered reporting with drill down capabilities
  • Understand how to use XML, and XSL for advanced report features and formatting
  • Ability to design reports in a logical, user friendly, and easy to understand format
  • Must be able to write technical documentation

  • Must be able to develop RPD's, reports, and dashboards. Candidate will be expected to migrate legacy reporting business logic from SAP (BO/WI, Crystal Reports) and Microsoft (SSRS).
  • Must demonstrate ability to be productive and effective in report conversion.
  • Must be capable and committed to delivering results on-time/on-schedule.
  • Desired Skills:
    • Experience in BI security and server administration
    • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint
    • Experience with Microsoft SSRS
    • Experience customizing BI reports using JSP, ASP, SDK
    • Experience with Crystal Reports and sub-reports
    • Knowledge of Oracle Financials (PeopleSoft), and Primavera/P6 Analytics, Human Resources (Time and Labor), and Learning Management
