Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain network infrastructure
  • Determine network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to meet those requirements
  • Conduct network modeling and analysis to construct a reliable, high-performance integrated network
  • Performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Direct system installation (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Select and install appropriate data communications components configured to meet the company's needs
  • Program routers and switches, and other network hardware
  • Configure DNS servers
  • Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and infrastructure against attackers
  • Define, document, and enforce system standards
  • Manage owned domain names
  • Design, recommend and implement new solutions to improve the resilience of network operations
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problems and outages ensuring system availability and reliability
  • Schedule updates and upgrades
  • Collaborate with network architects to optimize system performance
  • Engage in data network fault investigations
  • Secure network systems with policies that define and monitor access
  • Report network operation status based on project management and priority information

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in network administration, information technology, or computer science
  • A minimum of 5 years hands-on network engineering experience, security or systems support, or network administration
  • Additional certifications preferred, such as:
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) - CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
  • F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Experience with various network types including LANs, WANs, WLANs, SANs, and VoIP networks, along with some understanding of other IT domains
  • Hands-on experience with the Cisco Nexus networking switching platform
  • Design, implementation, and support experience with modern "next-gen” Layer-7 firewall platforms
  • Actively increase job knowledge through continuing education and professional development opportunities, attend conferences, and read professional industry publications
  • Open to being on call outside of regular working hours as well as occasional nights and weekends in the office
  • Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Have high attention to detail
  • Be a confident communicator
  • Work well independently and in team settings
