Midrange Production Support

Position Overview:
  • Provide analytical and technical support for midrange applications
  • Role requires strong application and infrastructure support background
  • The ability to communicate complex functional and technology solutions across differing audiences including technical, managerial and vendors
  • Additionally, requires on-call support in a 24x7 follow the sun model
 
Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot application and middleware issues for J2EE platform with Oracle backend
  • Support application releases, implementations, upgrades, and/or changes into the environment
  • Coordinate O/S patching events, disaster recovery exercises and technical infrastructure triage in complex shared environment (Linux, Oracle, WebLogic, Appian, Mule, MQ, Informatica, J2EE, and 20+ interfaces)
  • Coordinate with middleware vendors as needed for issue resolution
  • Provide timely resolution of user and break-fix incidents, automated alerts and information service requests
  • Additional work activities include Problem/Incident Management, Operational Readiness, Application Monitoring, Service Analytics and Reporting, Associate Support and Communications
  • Takes ownership of escalations and perform trouble shooting, analysis, research and resolution
  • Takes part in production support rotation, and responding and resolving production problems
  • May provide coaching and mentoring for other associates
  • Will work under minimal supervision
 
Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of experience in providing production support for Java, Oracle, or custom applications on a UNIX platform
  • J2EE platform support or developer experience
  • Experience in resolving both application functional and system related infrastructure incidents
  • Proactive in identifying, escalating, and addressing platform stability issues and risks
  • Experience in production support and follow the sun support model
  • Experience in change management and incident management tools
  • Experience in coordinating with offshore/onshore teams and delegating work
  • Ability to create well-defined documents
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of varying degrees of technical expertise
  • Ability to solve production down situations under tight SLA deadlines, including root cause and problem resolution follow-up
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Meeting facilitation and discussion moderation skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Typically requires 5+ years of midrange J2EE production support experience and 7+ years of technology experience
