Responsibilities:
  • Assure the compliance of the on-site microbiology program for testing raw materials, water, environment, and finished products at the Cambridge Lab facility including optimization of Cleaning and Sanitization procedures in accordance with Microbiological Control Standard QS 23 implementation.
  • Ensure that micro specifications for raw materials, water, compressed air, equipment, WIP and finished products are met.
  • For finished products ensure micro specs are met and enter in SAP.
  • Provide micro support for the manufacturing Home Care plant.
  • Understand and be able to precisely follow written lab procedures, global methods, local methods and published standard or compendia sources.
  • Verify all micro test methods and procedures are correct and validated as required. Ensure that products have gone through appropriate microbiological assessments (e.g. preservative effectiveness) prior to manufacture (Technology Transfer).
  • Perform stock cultures transfers using relevant QMIC procedures and maintain updated culture analysis records.
  • Perform identification on any microbial growth.
  • Daily Verification and maintenance checks for all Micro Lab instruments
  • Attend the North America Community of practices (COP) meetings with Microbiology Group.
  • Ensure that the reporting of data and maintenance of records is documented. Also, that the interpretation of the data is correct and that the results are effectively communicated to appropriate individuals, including management.
  • Conform and ensure safe use of basic laboratory equipment, practices, instructions and precautions in handling and disposing of biological materials in accordance with local environmental regulations.
  • Document, update and conduct all media preparations, sterility test, and growth promotions and diluents qualification in the Micro Lab.
  • Approve or hold raw materials based on test results in SAP system.
  • Ensure compliance to QMIC's and evaluate sample testing plans for raw materials, work-in process and finished products.
  • Participates in failure investigations to collect the necessary samples when appropriate.
  • Perform or assist vender in the installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ), and performance qualification (PQ) of laboratory instruments and equipment.
