Position Overview:
  • An enthusiastic, collaborative data/machine learning scientist to help develop groundbreaking computational technologies that will enable rapid development and improvement of next generation cellular therapy products
  • Expected to play a key role partnering with several internal research teams to develop and implement robust statistical / machine learning / deep learning models from images of cells to predict cellular phenotypes
  • Will work alongside colleagues in Predictive Sciences and Knowledge Sciences as well as data stakeholders in Cell Therapy Development and Operations (CTDO) and Cell Therapy Process Science and Development to enable high-throughput, automated characterization of CAR T cells for product development and production
 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and apply robust, state-of-the-art algorithmic and data-driven approaches to model and predict cellular phenotypes or states from cellular images
  • Help develop an understanding of relevant cellular phenotypes and their associated characteristics
  • Assist in automating the management, handling, processing and cleaning of large amounts of instrumental data including cellular images and high-dimensional cellular metadata
  • Engage with wet-lab colleagues to understand and participate in the planning of experimental strategies necessary to maximize predictive capabilities, and to understand the resulting data generated
  • Present strategies, approaches, results, and conclusions to a multidisciplinary team of computational and biological scientists
  • Automate data processing and develop data visualization dashboards using R|Shiny
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, computer vision, or a related data science-oriented field
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and test robust statistical multivariate models of imaging and/or high-dimensional data
  • Expertise in programming and data manipulation, using e.g. Unix shell, R, and Python, contemporary, open-source machine learning and/or deep learning tools and libraries, and collaborative development skills using version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • Proven problem-solving skills, collaborative nature and flexibility across multiple research domains
  • Proven problem-solving skills, collaborative nature and flexibility across disciplines
  • Ability to work independently and also as a member of a multidisciplinary analytical research team in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluent verbal and written English language skills
 
Preferred Experience:
  • Some background knowledge in computational biology, immunology, and wet-lab experimental procedures and data analysis
