Transactional FX (TFX) Technology is a little slice of Agile in a great big organization. A talented, experienced, and passionate group of technologists that prides itself on quality of delivery, continuous improvement, and a relaxed atmosphere, their developers work with technologies encompassing the full Java/J2EE and Spring technology stack, from front-end Web 2.0 development to Trading APIs over enterprise messaging protocols.

They are seeking developers with a range of experience levels – from junior to senior – to join their team, grow with them, and teach them a few things along the way.

Assume responsibility for developing and maintaining both internal and client-facing applications which integrate not only with clients, but with most areas within the Bank through existing APIs and new ones yet to be developed
Work with one of the client's foremost Agile development teams, using techniques from the XP and Scrum software development methodologies
Participate in most phases of the software development lifecycle, including story writing and estimation, design, development, test planning, test automation, and deployment
Assume responsibility for developing, enhancing, modifying and/or maintaining applications in the Global Markets environment
Design, code, test, debug, and document programs as well as support activities for the corporate systems architecture.
Work closely with business partners in defining requirements for system applications

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Java and a reasonable subset of the following as befitting your experience level:
o SQL, UNIX/Linux, Messaging (MQ, RV, JMS), HTML5, CSS, AJAX, Spring, Hibernate, MVC frameworks (Struts, Spring), web services, JSP/JSTL and Servlets, EJBs, JavaScript/JSON/JQuery, Concurrent Programming, Object Oriented Design, Design Principles and Patterns, Agile Practices, Test Driven and Behavior Driven Development and related frameworks, Aspect Oriented Programming, Dependency Injection/Inversion of Control
  • Additionally, it would be nice to have experience in any of the following:
o Foreign Exchange Markets, Electronic Payments and Settlements, dynamic languages such as Python, Ruby, or Groovy, WebLogic Server, Big Data, MIS solutions
  • Proven ability to solve problems with technology
o Can you describe a problem you've solved, the details of the solution, and why you chose the technology you used?
o Have you had demonstrated success developing large-scale sustainable applications?
  • Passion about quality, programming, and software development in general
o Do you "sharpen the saw” and continually explore opportunities to improve?
o Are you a technology evangelist?
o Will you introduce the group to new technologies and approaches?
  • Flexibility with day-to-day responsibilities
o Are you comfortable with working across multiple systems and potentially using multiple programming languages and technologies?
o Can you help with recruiting new talent?
  • Excellent organization skills
o Are you able to remain productive even when you have multiple deliverables?
  • Demonstrated good judgment
o Can you be trusted to make good decisions independently?
  • In-depth capital markets product knowledge, and ability to manage a high level of risk
  • In-depth knowledge of development tools and languages.
  • Proven expertise as a developer – to be clearly recognized as a content expert by peers

This is an individual contributor role and typically requires 5-7 years of applicable experience.
