Position Overview:
  • This Import/Export Specialist will be supporting Logistics Specialist that is responsible to carry out import, export and logistics activities for the client’s Manufacturing Site.
  • Coordinate the shipment documentation, scheduling and cold chain logistics for domestic and export drug substance shipments.
  • Will also provide support to ensure all import and export activities at the client site are executed in compliance with relevant regulations.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Schedules and coordinates outbound final product shipments from the site to other Client or contract manufacturer sites. Schedules transportation, prepares commercial transportation documentation for shipments, and ensures broker and carrier conformance to Client shipping instructions.
  • Performs SAP order transactions associated with customer orders. Creates delivery notes, packing lists, and invoices as required.
  • Supports and perform shipment (including cold chain shipments), export, and import logistics and related activities for the Site in conformance with all relevant regulations (GMP, DOT, IATA, IMDG.).
  • Reviews all export shipments from the site to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support of maintain the Site Import Log, performs audits of entry documents and declared value confirmations assuring activities are performed in accordance with import/export procedures and requirements.
  • Coordinates inbound shipments from foreign countries with US Customs Broker, freight forwarder agents and end users.
  • Responsible for all import documentation flow, accuracy and compliance (related to Customs Official Agents, FDA, USDA, etc) between supplier and Customs Broker.
  • Support Logistic Specialist to provide guidance as a backup subject matter expert to other site functions regarding import and export requirements.
  • Participates in projects to improve shipment or import/export processes or lanes.
 
Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of US Customs Regulations, FDA, DEA, USDA, and import/export procedures. Training or familiarity with AES (Automated export System).
  • Understanding of DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations for the transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Previous knowledge of packing/shipping materials to both domestic and international markets, including HazMat and cold chain preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP or equivalent.
  • Excellent communications and computer skills with a demonstrated proficiency with Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and participate in project teams.
  • Able to communicate will all levels of Management and develop successful working relationships.
 
Qualifications
  • External:
    • Bachelor in business, logistics, materials management, supply chain or related discipline preferred.
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Inventory Control, Material Management or Supply Chain in a manufacturing environment.
