Position Overview:
  • Responsible for providing Human Resources generalist expertise, HR integration activities and support.
  • Will work in close partnership with the organizations' management teams and employees in a broad range of HR matters.
  • This position is also key to the labor relations activities.
  • Will need to analyze and interpret collective bargaining agreements and advise management in development, application, and interpretation of labor relations policies and practices.
  • Work effectively with Human Resources counterparts across the US.
  • This position will be an HR Generalist covering: Staffing, Labor relations, Employee relations, and Talent Management.
  • Work closely with the Total Rewards experts.
  • Principle Accountabilities:
    • Accountable for the following end results:
      • Provide HR functional leadership, advice, and counsel to management teams on significant human resource issues and challenges and drive towards cost-effective comprehensive solutions.
      • Support all HR operational activities for the groups and sites assigned, including recruiting and staffing.
      • Drive Talent Management within the organizations with which they are aligned. This includes partnering with the business / functional leaders to identify the key talent management challenges facing the organization, helping develop comprehensive HR solutions and executing appropriate actions.
      • Provide day-to-day advice, guidance and support to employees and managers on issues related to career development, performance management, staffing, learning, compensation, etc.
      • Assist in labor contract negotiations to reconcile opposing claims and recommend concessions, or proposes adoption of new procedures.
      • Analyzes collective bargaining agreements to interpret intent, spirit, and terms of contract and will propose improvements for future contracts.
      • Compiles information on disagreement and determines points of issue, according to knowledge of labor, business, and government responsibilities under law.
      • The Human Resources Manager advises management and union officials on development, applications, and interpretation of company labor relations policies and practices.
      • Arranges and schedules meetings between parties in labor dispute to investigate and resolve grievances.
      • Monitors implementation of policies concerning wages, hours, and working conditions to ensure compliance to labor contract terms.
      • Also responsible for union avoidance strategies at non-union locations.

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources or a related field, and 10+ years of experience in a broad range of HR functions such as staffing, training, organization development, diversity, and compensation.
  • Labor Relations, grievance resolution, arbitration and union contract negotiations experience required.
  • Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment with a demanding workload whiles balancing changing / competing priorities and taking sometimes unpopular positions.
  • Effective in managing conflict / dealing with controversy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to influence at all levels of an organization, project management skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills and experience leading organizational change.

  • Background in a manufacturing environment
