Position Overview:
  • The Financial Reporting Principal is responsible for managing team-wide transformation as it relates to process, workflow, technology, and location strategy.
  • In addition, the Principal will support the broader financial reporting team by managing the general ledger maintenance, consolidation, balance sheet substantiation and select monthly/quarterly close processes.
  • In partnership with peers and leaders across the Financial Reporting team, as a leader in the space, the Principal will be collectively responsible to ensure that our financial statements are SEC, GAAP and SOX compliant.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Design, lead, and execute transformation efforts across the Financial Reporting team, focused on process, workflow, technology, location strategy and merger activities, ensuring key stakeholder buy-in and proper risk management.
  • Manage team responsible for Corporate Accounting and Consolidations function, located in NY and Powai, and oversee overall product and deliverables for the team.
  • Ensure smooth onboarding of new businesses that arise due to key transactions/acquisitions
  • Conduct on-going reviews of process and technology to identify areas of opportunity for improvement and enhancement within Corporate & Consolidations team.
  • Build and manage the Corporate & Consolidation's team technology plan and execute to support future efficiency and scale of the reporting function
  • Manage the 'health' of our data collection systems, financial reporting software, general ledger reports, and document retention systems for enhancements, upgrades, and improvements
  • Continue to advance and improve workflow surrounding consolidation process with a focus on automating and streamlining data submissions from fund controllers
  • Review of quarterly GAAP and non-GAAP disclosures, with focus on consolidated and stand-alone balance sheets, income statements, equity statements, cash flows for Earnings Release, Form 10-Q and annual Form 10-K filings for client, as well as:
    • Review of select footnotes and MD&A disclosures
    • Review of debt covenant reporting
    • Review of GP securitization vehicle reporting
    • Validation and documentation of financial statements support
    • Assist in ensuring that the filings are SEC, GAAP and SOX compliant..
  • Assist in maintaining a sound SOX controls environment and ensuring proper documentation of our SOX processes
  • Remain up to date on accounting and reporting changes and, in partnership with accounting policy team, proactively communicate status and potential impacts
  • Ability to manage and deliver complex projects across functions
 
Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience
  • Experience leading large scale transformation efforts, involving technology, locations, or process is required
  • U.S. GAAP technical accounting expertise, internal reporting and consolidation experience and CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Combination of Big 4 and industry experience a plus
  • Must have strong drive and initiative, be collaborative to effectively liaise with senior stakeholders and colleagues
  • A forward thinking, creative individual who challenges the status quo and takes initiative to reengineer processes
  • Strong project management skills and ability to onboard new technology initiatives
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft, Workiva and OneStream a plus
  • Strong communication skills with ability to coordinate across the firm to improve business processes
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to resolve conflict and observe confidentiality
  • Be nimble and flexible to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
  • The ability to take on a task and "run with it to conclusion is a critical characteristic of this role
