Position Overview:
  • The Digital Accessibility Analyst will be responsible for working with the technology delivery teams to ensure that Client’s digital technology can be utilized by customers with disabilities, serving as the advocate for our guests with various disabilities (vision, hearing, motor, cognitive, etc.).
  • The Analyst will be expected to possess strong tactical knowledge of accessibility standards and practices utilized to achieve compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Partnering with Experience Design colleagues to ensure we are developing the best user experience for all Client hotel guests with a disability
  • Working with agile product teams to build accessibility into all areas of the SDLC (research, design, development, testing)
  • Evaluating design comps and wireframes and highlighting accessibility considerations
  • Writing accessibility specific acceptance criteria
  • Evaluating code to help identify root cause of accessibility defects
  • Conducting full accessibility audits for web sites and mobile applications
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of accessibility guidelines, processes, checklists, how-to documents and web-based resources
  • Organizing internal awareness building activities
  • Working with an enterprise compliance monitoring tool to track and report on accessibility defects
  • Developing and delivering accessibility training
 
Qualifications:
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 Level AA (required)
  • Familiarity with ADA and international accessibility laws
  • Understand and have demonstrated experience in applying accessibility and usability principles that impact users with disabilities in the design/wireframe stage
  • Hands on experience with assistive technology devices including screen readers, screen magnification, alternative keyboard inputs, etc. for both desktop and mobile
  • Hands on experience conducting accessibility audits for web and mobile
  • Ability to provide technical solutions and remediation guidance to designers, developers and QA for desktop and mobile
  • Experience with an automated accessibility testing tool such as Comply, Attest, aXe, WAVE or Tenon
  • Hands on experience with WAI-ARIA and how to implement accessibly
  • Knowledge of W3C standards-compliant HTML and CSS
  • Knowledge of JavaScript (React JS a plus)
  • Knowledge of accepted accessibility interaction patterns and best practices
  • Background in web development, user interface design, user experience a plus
  • Experience with agile methodologies and JIRA
  • A passion for changing the dialog about and perception of people with disabilities
  • 5-7 years tactical experience in the digital accessibility industry that is not specific to an accessibility tester role
  • Intermediate level experience with at least 2 of the following screen readers: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack
  • Intermediate level experience with at least 1 other assistive technology product (switch control, magnification, etc.)
  • Understanding of the differences between screen readers
  • Ability to read and interpret HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Ability to understand and describe accessible user interaction patterns
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable speaking in front of an audience
  • Attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex topics
  • Exceptional customer service skills with ability to effectively interact with multiple stakeholders and internal teams
  • Expert at time management as well as working & finding answers to questions independently
  • Strong communicator; both verbally and in writing, who can effectively communicate and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to communicate technical accessibility concepts and terminology into easy-to-understand terms
  • Previous experience working directly with people who have a disability a plus
  • Independent thinker who shows ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team but also shows initiative and drive to work independently
  • Be a self-starter who exhibits both drive and dependability
  • Demonstrate strong strategic and critical thinking skills, asking thoughtful and relevant questions
  • Understand sense of urgency and prioritization

  • IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
  • Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Certification
