Position Overview:
The Audio Visual/Video Conferencing Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for the coordination and management of the College's audio/visual/video conferencing technologies in classrooms and meeting spaces. The position will serve as the lead systems engineer responsible for both strategic and operational coordination efforts including design/architecture, implementation/integration/installation coordination, and the development and delivery of a comprehensive IT support and end-user training program. The Audio Visual/Video Conferencing Lead Support Engineer will function as part of a team, inclusive of customers, and must demonstrate sufficient written and communication skills to ensure success.
  • Analyze and evaluate existing audio/visual/conferencing systems with minimal oversight, and define problems, report requirements and system design issues
  • Serve as primary technical project manager for new installations and refresh deployments including the requirements gathering, vendor coordination, budget/timeline oversight, and status reports
  • Develop documentation on audio/visual/conferencing technologies including technical diagrams/room layouts, policies, and procedures, including end-user guides and SOPs
  • Provide comprehensive third-tier support and coordinate routine maintenance for audio-visual (A/V) and video teleconferencing electronic devices, systems, and services; identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot system malfunctions and defects
  • Research and evaluate new technologies to expand or enhance the usage and delivery of AV/VTC services
  • Maintain inventory of assigned systems, to include codecs, cameras, monitors, audio equipment, projectors, and carts, etc.
  • Maintain configuration control records, and maintains equipment hardware and software inventory
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard video formats and display resolutions, and standard audio routing and configuration in integrated conference room systems. Working knowledge of TCP/IP internetworking and protocols relevant to VTC technology, including H.320, H.323, and SIP communication protocols
  • Demonstrated knowledge in video conferencing technology and infrastructure (e.g. Crestron, Extron, Cisco), including conference room and desktop systems, multi-point control units, Gateway, Gatekeeper, and integrated A/V systems over IP networks
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills. Flexible work schedule to provide support, as necessary
  • Minimum Six (6) years of relevant experience
  • Solid understanding of supporting, managing, engineering Audio Visual systems
  • Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to make effective presentations and communicate technical concepts to non-technical clients
  • Extensive knowledge of project management processes, systems development methods, organizational change management concepts, and business process improvement methods
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must have Zoom Conference Room technologies deployment experience
  • CTS Certification or equivalent Audio-Visual knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and experience of MS Teams Conference room deployment
  • Bi-Amp DSP Programming and Crestron Programming
