Position Overview:
  • The Immuno-Oncology and Cellular Therapy Thematic Research Center is one of the fundamental research and early development engines delivering therapeutics to patients.
  • Our mission is to drive leadership in the use biotherapeutics and engineered cell-based therapies to harness the power of immune cells to mediate anti-tumor activity in hematological and solid cancers.
  • Our thematic focus allows the group to capitalize on the cutting-edge science that underpins the action of many of the company's most innovative therapeutics, without being constrained by drug modality or disease indication.
  • The Immuno-Oncology and Cellular Therapy Translational Research team is looking for a creative and driven laboratory biologist to help advance our portfolio of biotherapeutics and cell therapies that have entered early clinical trials.
  • Key responsibilities of this role are to assess the pre-clinical efficacy of potential combination therapies, provide biologic insight into the mechanisms of efficacy or resistance/relapse of our therapies, and identify new indications for our clinical stage assets.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong background in laboratory assessment of biologic functions of immune cells by flow cytometry. Laboratory experience with human immunology is highly preferred.
  • The individual hired for this role will have demonstrated proficiencies in accurate record keeping, attention to experimental detail, and good communication skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to independently execute experimental studies to meet project goals, as well as the ability to work as part of a collaborative research team, is required.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Execute preclinical research strategies to evaluate the efficacy and mechanism of action of immuno-oncology drug candidates using primary human cell cultures and patient samples under moderate supervision
  • Analyze, interpret, and report experimental results under moderate supervision
  • Maintain accurate and timely recordings in electronic laboratory notebook
  • Contribute to experimental design and suggest next steps
  • Present results in small group meetings
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in immunology, immuno-oncology, molecular and cellular biology, or related biologic field with at least 3 years of successful full-time laboratory experience beyond coursework.
  • Demonstrated experience with experimental execution, data analysis, and interpretation of in vitro / ex vivo analysis of biologic assessments
  • Extensive experience in multi-parameter (8+ color) flow cytometry, including proficiency with FACSDiva and FlowJo software and the ability to independently analyze flow cytometry data
  • Proficiency with one or more technologies to assess immune cell function including, but not limited to, myeloid cell functional assays (e.g. phagocytosis), NK and T cell activation assays, proliferation assays, and/or cytotoxicity assays
  • Experience working with human immune cells strongly preferred
  • Detail-oriented with proven problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work productively as both team member and as individual contributor
