The Specialist will join the Quantitative Middle Office Independent Amount (IA) team, which is responsible for assisting the Counterparty Portfolio Management team with the establishment of business processes and controls needed to ensure the firm's IA calculations are accurate and consistent with Uncleared Margin Rules (UMR).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The current opening is for an associate located in New York and will work in a team setting to ensure successful delivery of the UMR IA program items.
  • Identify and establish control processes that will mitigate future IA calculation errors
  • Provide enhanced analysis and IA explains to front office and collateral operations teams as needed
  • Assess production IA results for errors
  • Build and prototype new process controls and checks
  • Provide assessment of counterparty computed IA numbers for reasonableness
  • Validate and explain drivers of day over day changes in IA to CPM and Collateral operations teams
  • Coordinate efforts across relevant UMR teams to ensure daily SIMM processes are operating efficiently and are capable of identifying calculation issues
  • Be involved in ad hoc project for new processes
  • Work with technology teams to guide IA calculator reporting and control requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Master’s Degree, or higher, in Finance, Economics, or Quantitative field
  • Strong technical skills including experience using Excel, VBA and SQL
  • Experience working with OTC derivative products
  • Strong knowledge of market and credit risk
  • Excellent communication skills

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
  • Understanding of the collateral management process
  • Knowledge of the Uncleared Margin Rules
  • Python programming experience / desire to learn
