Platform Operations is the client's enterprise application hosting division, hosting services for application middleware, including Web, J2EE, Messaging, and SOA. The web hosting service, built around Apache, Tomcat, and other open source technologies, is highly automated, with a reliance on self-service to enable internal clients to manage their web applications themselves without the assistance of the support team.
The web hosting service requires an SME to join the team to help with expanding load. There are a number of major migration projects each year, and initially, the successful candidate will help with these projects. As they come up to speed with the platform, they will also help augment the SL3 Support team in administering and improving the platform, and assisting clients with complex application integration and production issues.
There will be a significant amount of project work, so discipline and ability to work to deadlines and deliver discrete units of work, along with excellent interpersonal skills, will be required. Formal project management skills will not be required.
