We are seeking to hire a Junior Consultant to join our client's team, for a one-year contract to support transaction execution and monitoring work across the portfolio. The ideal candidate will be a quick and positive-thinking problem-solver who is comfortable multi-tasking and working with a variety of people. Most importantly, the successful candidate will have a desire to learn more about the rapidly developing field of impact investing by gaining direct experience working with a group that was an early mover in this space. The Junior Consultant will report to a senior member of the team. The position will involve a high-level of coordination with other members of the team, a small dynamic unit with multiple roles and responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Portfolio monitoring:
o Manage processes and ensure compliance of portfolio companies with reporting requirements; should offer solutions to improve efficiency
o Receive monthly portfolio information and quarterly financials/portfolio data, annual audited financial statements, and other information as needed from portfolio companies; run corresponding models, correct data problems, and analyze results for senior team members
o Prepare covenant compliance certificates for portfolio companies and flag covenant breaches
o Prepare annual review analyses of existing transactions for review by senior team members
o Prepare country analysis for the countries represented in the portfolio, to be used in credit memos and annual reviews
  • Transaction support:
o Support the preparation of credit memos, which are prepared for the Investment Committee to review in their decision regarding whether or not to approve a proposed loan
o Collect required compliance information from borrowers in preparation for new transactions or reviews
o Assist in the preparation of legal documentation for transactions, coordinating with senior team members and legal counsel
o Liaise with the operations areas of client to ensure that loans and investments are correctly booked and all appropriate external and internal closing requirements are met
  • Represent the team in the broader impact investing community, through participation in industry events and conferences
  • Support ongoing improvement of group tools, processes, and procedures, particularly informing updates to credit policies and procedures
  • In collaboration with the team, develop successful strategies to achieve our group goals, conducting planning and monitoring progress against objectives

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Public Policy, Economics or related discipline is preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in an analytic role in the financial services (lending/investing)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements, business plans/projections
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles is an advantage
  • Working knowledge of the impact investment industry is an advantage
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems/applications and strong Microsoft Excel capability
  • Exceptional analytical, writing, presentation, and organization skills and an ability to communicate complex transactions in a straightforward manner
  • Strong verbal communications and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively as a member of a small and dynamic team
  • Effective time-management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload with minimal direct supervision
  • Self-starter attitude with a demonstrated passion for working in the impact investment field
  • Foreign language capability is preferred, particularly Spanish
