POSITION OVERVIEW
The Finance Data Quality Architect will:
  • Participate in the design, development, and implementation of architectural deliverables, including components of the assessment and optimization of system design and review of user requirements
  • Contribute to the determination of technical and operational feasibility of solutions
  • Develop prototypes of the system design and work with database, operations, technical support, and other IT areas as appropriate throughout development and implementation processes
  • May lead multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Serve as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; provide tech knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor
  • Provide input on staffing, budget, and personnel
In this role, you will not have direct reports but will influence and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations, as well as mentor junior band 5 Architect 1s. Typically 7 or more years of architecture experience is required.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Finance Data Quality Architect is a key member of the Enterprise Control Function (ECF) Data Shared Service Team and reports to the Data Quality & Control Lead. This role will be responsible for providing support to a variety of data quality activities and work streams within the Bank. This role will work closely with Data Owners and Business Data Stewards around the bank to identify, analyze, and remediate data quality issues. In particular, the Data Quality (DQ) Analyst role will work at an enterprise-wide level, maintaining oversight of the overall data quality within the group, and addressing the DQ issues with most material impact for the Bank.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • DQ Measurement / Monitoring - Develop data quality rules for monitoring KBE data quality for prioritized and local data supply chains
  • DQ Control & Remediation - Develop data quality control and remediation plan; perform root cause analysis and track resolution of data quality issues
  • Data Reconciliation - Implement data reconciliation plan and monitoring for financial data elements in prioritized data supply chains
  • DQ Scorecards - Promote transparency into data quality through implementation of data quality scorecards
  • Support the Senior Data Quality Analyst in the adequate embedding of the Data Quality Framework in the business as usual operations of the business divisions / corporate functions
  • Oversee that the workflows for escalation, prioritization criteria, roles and responsibilities, dashboards etc. operate effectively
  • Oversee that the Critical Data Elements maintained in the central metadata repository comply with the Data Quality Framework, i.e. that they have business rules / data quality standards associated to them; liaise with data owners and consumers for that purpose
  • For the data that is managed centrally, ensure there is an adequate data quality management monitoring capability (data profiling and assessment, etc.), and use it to assess the alignment of such data to the business requirements and DQ standards
  • Support the Senior Data Quality Analyst to manage Data Quality issues that are escalated and that are approved to be managed centrally – this will include setting up a project team of SME from the business and IT to go through solution design, business case, budget request, and remediation
  • Oversee the monitoring of open DQ issues being managed by the different business divisions / Corporate functions via dashboards
  • Consolidate the measurement of Data Quality Indicators defined at an enterprise level and act upon them (identify patterns or unusual behavior and act upon it)
  • Continuously improve the Enterprise Data Quality Framework by suggesting improvements to all its aspects (roles, prioritization criteria, workflows for decision-making, etc.); lead the issue of new versions
  • Support the Senior Data Quality Analyst in the preparation of the agenda of Data Quality at the Central Data Governance Council; coordinate the preparation of materials and support the Senior Data Quality Analyst in the discussion
  • Use the knowledge of DQ to feedback and improve the Data Control Model framework; suggest the implementation of Data Controls

EDUCATION AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:
  • BA/BS (Analytic Orientation, preferred); MBA and/or advanced degree (a plus)
  • 10+ years of total experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Data Quality, Data Governance / Data Strategy role
  • Practical understanding of Master Data Management concepts, hands-on experience in ETL (Informatica, Data Stage, other data loading tools), writing SQL queries.
  • Solid content knowledge of Data Quality, Data Governance/ Data Strategy, preferred
  • Knowledge in core finance functions such as general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, client profitability, corporate tax, Finance Master Data, planning/forecasting, funds transfer pricing, and regulatory reporting, preferred

  • Ability to demonstrate leadership to data owners, business data stewards, and other data roles and key stakeholders
  • Solid relationship building abilities and partnership skills, including the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and achieve results with a largely virtual and distributed team
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to quickly synthesize data and develop recommendations
  • Solid problem-solving ability: both business and technical level
  • Proven ability as a self-starter; comfort with ambiguity, ability to effectively take the conceptual to the pragmatic
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to multi-task, work efficiently, and meet tight deadlines
